A sad tale's best for winter...
In Czechoslovakia, 1937, the clouds of war are beginning to form on the horizon.
Thoughts of war are easily dismissed as the Foreign Minister, Count Stanislaus, entertains his wartime comrade, Louisiana politician Whitaker Beauregarde. But the minister is a jealous man, and old loyalties are cast aside as he accuses his friend of adultery and espionage, setting in motion a tragic course of events. Before Stanislaus can begin to make restitution, Europe is plunged into war.
Seventeen years later, in New Orleans, the governor's son falls in love with the adopted daughter of a humble pastor. And, gradually, winter gives way to spring...
Adapted from Shakespeare's late romance, THE WINTER'S TALE retains the magic, the mystery and the meditation on love, forgiveness and the passing of time.
