'Nothing to You' is a new play by Nick Baldock, set in an alternate reality of 1949, one in which England is essentially an outpost of the Third Reich. The play’s familiar narrative of forbidden love is given a vicious complexity by the nature of the society it depicts and the standing of the men within it. As the oppressions of a fascist regime overlay the attitudes of a society already scandalised by homosexuality, Rob & Matt, erstwhile lovers, meet for the first time in ten years.

Independent yet symbiotic parallel narratives see the characters struggle to determine their private from their public lives, as the play dares to imagine British society’s adaptation to a system previously abhorred. The themes of the text still resonate with those countries where daily life assumes a heightened level of anxiety as the powers that be prowl those who have taken against it.
